Yesterday the Bright Fire Department and this community lost a wonderful person. Tom Stevens passed away in his sleep at the age of 59. He leaves behind his wife Debbie, an EMT, 2 sons, Mike and Tom Jr. who have both been involved with the Fire Department, 2 daughters-in-law and 4 Grandchildren whom he loved more than anything.    And though he loved his family first, Tom also loved this community…. Joining the department in 2000, the time he’s given to the Bright area is immense. Training firefighters, planning festival details, educating elementary school kids and giving tours to scout troops are just some of the ways he gave back to the area. Tom handled almost all of the department’s administration duties, wrote grant requests to keep us funded and has helped navigate the course of this department for years to come. His pride came from the outstanding family he and Debbie helped raise, the professionalism this volunteer department shows and the friendly relationships he made in this close knit town.

TOYS FOR TOTS

The Bright Volunteer Fire Department is proud to be partnering with the United States Marine Corp this Christmas season and the Toys For Tots program. The Bright Fire Department is Dearborn County’s local toy drop location. The mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. Beginning immediately, Station 1 on Salt Fork Road will be accepting your generous toy donations from 6am to 6pm, 7 days a week. Toys can also be dropped off at Station 2 on Stateline Road, Saturday mornings from 9am to noon. The Bright Fire Department thanks you for helping those in need during the holidays.
